Transfer & Transform: Collage & Printmaking Workshop with Stef Shively

Open the door to the magical world of collage! During this immersive three day workshop, participants will learn how to ethically source images and create their own unique papers using photo transfer techniques and two different printmaking processes. By the end of the workshop, participants will create up to 3 finished artworks and leave with valuable resources for future art-making and a starter pack of ephemera and collage materials to continue their artistic journey at home. Enhance your creative skills and connect with fellow community members in this engaging and supportive workshop!

This hands-on experience invites artists of all skill levels to dive deep into the collage-making process.

Day 1 - Sunday, November 10

We’ll focus on utilizing photographic images as the foundation for collage art. You’ll learn how to ethically source images while building your own copyright-friendly resource library. Unlock the potential of photo transfer techniques using solvents and acrylic mediums on different substrates to create captivating effects.

Day 2 - Sunday, November 17

Immerse yourself in the joy of printmaking as you design your own unique papers. Explore the playful techniques of Gelli plate printing and the collagraph process, using everyday materials and ink to create textured, intriguing papers that will elevate your collages.

Day 3 - Sunday, November 24

We’ll wrap up collagraph printing and weave together everything you’ve learned to create up to three finished works of art, as time allows. Your collages will showcase your unique vision and voice through the use of image, texture, color, and composition. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a richer understanding of collage, valuable resource documents to support your ongoing practice, and a curated starter pack of ephemera from Stef’s personal collection.
